"I plead the fifth. I want a lawyer!"
This is the central advice that we should give to our clients. it does no good to tell them to remain silent anymore. so i repeat my advice, and the advice that i think all defense lawyers should tell their clients:
I plead the fifth. I want a lawyer. I have a right to remain silent. i have a right to a lawyer. Please, honor my rights.
if someone had another idea, i am more than eager to hear it.
Good luck to all the wonderful criminal defense attorneys that help to solidify our constitutional rights.
